I don’t think it’s “society” that lets them off. Rather, it’s the politicians who take money from them during campaign season, and sometimes not even during campaign season!
Hmm that is true. But at what point do we stop thinking that politicians are looking out for the society? Because obviously the way a lot of things are heading towards today one cannot say they are. I don’t see any significant changes coming from the top but rather from the bottom majority (I hate class references but it is unavoidable currently).
I have been voting since 1976, and I have never thought that politicians are looking out for society. Nothing I have seen in the ensuing years has changed my mind.
