My godfather called me today randomly and asked if I was interested in going for a Ice-hockey game. And as my evening was free I decided to say yes.
I hadn’t gone to one for sometime (like 8 years) so this was a really enjoyable experience, as I don’t usually follow any type of sports unless it is World series or alike.
Things had changed a lot since the last time. There were so many more effects and the whole sport seems to have become like a spectacle (cinema/gladiator arena like experience).
Flashing colorful lights, sound effects, commentators, halftime shows, commercial break shows, competitions and so on. It felt like the actual main attraction of watching the game became sidelined by all these other spectacles.
Anyway, it was a very enjoyable experience overall and the game itself was good too, although our side lost (Jokerit 1 and Metallurg Magnitogorsk 4). To be fair the Russians had a very good solid game and our team was all over the place making mistakes.
Here are a few pics.
