Here is a short video (6 minutes) of her accepting the National Book Foundation’s Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters at the 65th National Book Awards.
In her speech she emphasizes the importance of artists alike keeping their integrity in the face of big corporations and capitalism. Saying that social change starts commonly from artists.
I am 100% behind her and I love this phrase by her “We live in capitalism, it’s power seems inescapable, so did the divine right of the King’s”.
Is she not beautiful? Her intellect and heart shine out of her. Thank you for sharing.
