This little trip also happened during my work deployment in Kenya. Flew with a straight connection to Zanzibar from Nairobi (1h roughly).
Two of my oldest childhood friends from Tanzania got hitched in Zanzibar at a stunning luxury hotel. It was a 4 day happening plus 2 more extra days with the groom in Stone Town after the wedding.
Was truly a beautiful and once in a life time experience. Ceremony was held at the peer of the hotel as the sun set over a restless beautiful Indian ocean. It was the rainy season and we were super lucky that we did not get hit by a tropical shower.
Super happy for these two wonderful human beings, they really deserved this beautiful moment for all the hardship and struggle that they have gone through to get to this point. Was an absolute honor!
Small tip: when you land at Zanzibar int. airport. If you have a Diners Club Card or American Express Card you will get processed as a VIP through immigration. You get free snacks, separate lounge and a personal immigration officer. Never experienced anything like it! Was super convenient although I felt a bit guilty to have this comfort over others.
