Was watching random news streams on YouTube while working last week, as I usually do. When on France 24/h they did a piece on this twin sister artist duo called Ibeyi and how they are merging their heritage into the music they produce.
They have a very mixed rich background, being French with Cuban, Tunisian and Venezuelan roots. Apart from singing in French, Spanish and English, they also sing in Yoruba which is a native language in Nigeria that was brought to Cuba by the slave trade. They are also the daughters of a percussionist in one of my all time favorite bands, the Buena Vista Social Club.
I added a few songs by Ibeyi below and really look forward to hearing more of their production!
Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
